Best Hair Straighteners for NZ: Online Search Tips

doll with straight hair at hair straighteners NZKnowing how to search online for the best hair straighteners in New Zealand and globally, by collating several comparative user reviews, reading customer testimonials, and Google search tactics should help you make a more informed decision for purchasing the "best" (or ideal) flat hair iron for you. But it may help to consider relevant characteristics to help you select what would ideally suit you, and your hair. Though I wrote about hair straightener buying tips earlier, here I will expand, particularly on how to use Google for targeted search queries for the best straightener. But first, consider features to consider for selecting a flat iron straightener-

Brand and Condition
* New popular global brand
* Upcoming/most wanted/reviewed brand
* New "local" popular brand (as dictated what's on the NZ market online or offline)
* Upcoming "local" brand
* New popular/upcoming after market "unbranded" iron (Often Asian imports)
* Re-manufactured/rebuilt straighteners
* Used irons in good condition

Straightening Features
* "Traditional" iron straightener
* Pink, hazy blue, mixed colour
* Ceramic
* Tourmaline
* Wet to Dry
* Jade Straightener
* "Conditioning" and "Moisturizing" straighteners
* Floating Plates
* Auto Cut Off
* Plate Width

Branded Straighteners
* GHD
* Solia
* Sedu
* Remington
* Babyliss
* CHI

Hair Type
* Long coarse hair - or medium to long coarse hair
* Long normal hair - or medium to long normal hair
* Long fine hair - or medium to long fine hair
* Short normal hair
* Short fine hair
* Short or long wavy/curly normal, coarse, or fine hair

Price Range
(Based on NZ dollars, - some online sites allow to select by price range)
* $20 - $40 (new - mini stylers? or used traditional irons?)
* $30 - $60 (used mid range irons? or online after market, or new specials?)
* $60 - $80 (new mid range irons, new specials, after market, or used semi premium irons?)
* $90 - $120 (New premium bargains? after market, special deals, and used semi premium flat irons?)
* > $120 to ~ $300 (used premium to brand new premium irons?)

NZ's auction site Trademe and other NZ online sites (that are selling new hair straighteners), would be ideal to assess current price ranges for branded new, after market new, and used straighteners. Pricing will change for some irons over time, which will generally affect used pricing categories, as well as availability.

Targeted Google Searching for Hair Straightening Irons

So when searching online for a "best" iron perhaps bear in mind the above features (and others that come to mind or read my article hair straightener buying tips), to help select what would be suitable to you. Below are Google search techniques to help quickly and easily target what straightener could be the best.

User Reviews and Targeted Search Techniques

1. Google Search Tips for Best Hair Straighteners

Smiling woman with straight hair from NZ hair straighteners blogEnter search terms such as - best hair straightener reviews - or use the Google "intitle" trick (or sometimes "allintitle"). Hence search as intitle:best hair straightener reviews. This has the potential to display authoritative/relevant review sites, where you can read user reviews (be prepared to read hundreds per iron model for some sites), mainly from the United States. Search results include folica.com, about beauty.com, flat iron experts.com, marie claire.co.uk, Amazon, etc, depending on Google's current rank selection for your search results. You can use other search terms, e.g. top ten hair straighteners, best hair straighteners NZ, best hair straighteners on the market, and other variations, and maybe include a brand name (e.g. GHD, CHI, Sedu, etc) that relate to the prime search term - "best". Image of Looking up by whit.

Lets consider the search term - hair straighteners NZ (which Google should "auto suggest" in the search drop down box, as it thinks it's a relevant term, and/or it has a huge database of that actual term from previous online searches.

Please note - You may have to sign out of Google for these searches - as Google has a personal search option system, which you may have enabled, which is likely to rank or bias search results based on your past history searches. Also, for some regions (e.g. for USA, UK, etc), perhaps enter the term iron (or flattening iron) in your search phrases, as overseas internet searches could be using those terms more frequently. Much like our pharmacy or chemist vs their drug store (for USA), or our petrol vs gasoline, etc)

Using the intitle search term for NZ

Using intitle query to search Google for top NZ hair styling irons
So using the more targeted search term "intitle" is more likely to return more comprehensive (and possibly authoritative) web site results. Often this depends on the SEO (search engine optimization) skills of the web designer/publisher, and the number of search queries per region or country. Yahoo Answers displays - which has millions of questions and answers, and hence you may get more informed reviews from personal hair iron users. Using the allintitle search term for NZ displays only 2 results of which Trademe displays.

Entering the allintitle search term for NZ

using allintitle Google search term to expand on relevant top hair iron informationThe low number of results for the phrase "best hair straighteners NZ" is largely absent in NZ web site titles, such as hair care sites, sellers, auction sites, forums, NZ directories, etc. Therefore try other countries (which would have more diverse, more brands, and much larger search database of search queries) for more meaningful search results and possibly more authoritative results. You may have to toggle between "intitle" and allintitle" to try return relevant results for your search term.

For example entering intitle:best hair straighteners uk

Google results for top UK hair straightener irons from New Zealand Search
The UK results returns a 10 best hair straightener site, which would be helpful to research and perhaps make a selection for possible purchase in NZ. So using Google search tricks for your search phrases should return informative results, particularly if you include regional, brand, and alternative terms (i.e. iron or straightener) in addition to using universal or generic search for a worldwide internet search.

2. Categorize and Segment Hair Straightener Search Results

Then try a add on for Firefox Browser called Search Cloudlet - It instantly displays a cloud of relevant single words in increasing font size that are most frequent in the search results. Also use the Google "Wonder Wheel" for segmented results, and the search related information - displayed at the bottom of the search results. So let's compare NZ results against USA, UK, and Canada.

Hence you can find and instantly see the "best" brands of hair flattening irons, and related popular search queries - and perhaps of interest - as you might discover other brands or useful groups of categories, that you never new existed or thought of.

The wonder wheel prominently displays more categories of branded hair irons for the UK, which may be of interest to explore the links for more insightful information. Note though, the groups (i.e. titles and search data) may change over time, due to new popular search queries that may arise - for example if new brands/models of hair irons (that become popular), or new features, re-branding, etc, become available.

2c. Related Search Groups - Along the bottom of search pages

Perhaps a bit simpler, is the related search groups along the bottom tabs, if you want to quickly see what would be relevant and of interest to your search term. Perhaps copy/paste a group (The groups should be the same or similar to the categories displayed in the Wonder Wheel) into the Wonder Wheel search tab to find and easily display more groups for evaluating hair straighteners.

  1. Although not in NZ, I have found these tips on finding and buying the best hair straighteners online quite universal and particularly useful. From my searching I have found GHD Hair Straighteners to be the best, although they do command a price premium over rival products.

  3. well I've tried different brands and the best one for me is the Karmin G3 Salon Pro which has tourmaline ceramic plates that cause less damage to the hair and keeps it soft, shiny and super straight, I luv it !! :D

  4. Very helpful, though it seems it's the same tips on every website!

    I disagree with GHD being the best, they have failed me multiple times, same goes for CHI. Neither brand is what they used to be :/
    The best now has to be Karmin, I have the Karmin Titanium but I'm seriously considering investing in the G3 after so many people raving about it, looks really good. The Titanium one is awesome too, gets my hair pin straight in minutes :)
